The Club was formed in 1996 by a small band of sailors who wanted to form a club, with the main focus on having an informal and friendly environment in which to pursue their hobby. Since then, the Club has grown into a large and successful group with many of our modellers exhibiting at prestigious shows around the country.
The range of models sailed represents a wide cross section, from fast Marblehead and Metre racing yachts through to fast electric boats, intricate scale boats powered by electric or steam to the stealth of submarines.
When / WhereWe sail all year around on Sunday and Thursday mornings from about 9.30am to 12pm, but Club membership entitles you to sail at any time of the week during Park opening hours. |
CostThe membership fees are just £5.00 for full members and £5.00 for junior members, plus a £5 Admin fee on joining the club (first payment only). This fee includes the very important Third Party Insurance cover, which is a requirement for sailing in the public domain. |
MembershipThe membership runs from November each year. If you would like more information about our club, you can contact us here. |
The club has members that cover all types of model boating, from battleships, racing yachts, speed boat racing, tugs to steam powered vessels. No matter what your interest, you will find someone with expert knowledge to help or simply share a common passion.
Racing is held regularly throughout the year for IOM and other classes of yachts. Events are friendly but not too competitive; a full schedule for 2019 is available online. Come along and have a go!
Scale events such as towing, navigation & docking are planned for the shows in 2019, but if you want to come along any Sunday or Thursday to show off your skills, pop down & see us.
Club 500 racing is our staple diet at Margam. It offers a low cost entry into RC racing that is fun, friendly and surprisingly close. Boats are easy to make (and repair) and offer great entertainment.
A small and dedicated group of highly skilled individuals craft their own steam powered models. Please note, all steam based models need to produce their own pressure testing certificate.
If you have any questions, or simply want to come down to have a go before joining, feel free to come along any Thursday or Sunday mornings. Alternatively contact us below.
